Khwisero Technical and Vocational College (KTVC) is a public tertiary institution under the Ministry of Education, State Department for Vocational and Technical Training. The college is located in Khwisero constituency, Kakamega county, at River Yala along the Ebuyangu—Ekero Highway. The Institute started in 2023 and was officially opened on 3rd February 2024 by the President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency Dr. William Samoei Ruto.

With high performance and standards, KTVC strategically intends to be a premier TVET college in the republic and the world. The Institute is witnessing growth in trainees’ enrolment, staff, and physical infrastructure. We are driven by our motto, “Technical Skills for socio-economic empowerment,” to impart trainees with the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes for economic development and critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication abilities vital for success in today’s globalized world.

We currently offer 32 Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) courses at Level 4 (Artisan), Level 5 (Certificate), and Level 6 (Diploma) that are assessed by TVET CDACC

The courses are grouped into seven departments:

  1. Building and Civil Engineering
  2. Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  3. Mechanical and Automotive Engineering
  4. ICT and Informatics
  5. Hospitality and Tourism
  6. Fashion Design and Cosmetology
  7. Agriculture and Environmental Studies.

The college embraces modern technology in training and establishing industry partnerships to ensure our students are well-equipped with the necessary skills. The government of Kenya provided the college with 100 computers and 200Mbps of Internet connection for the Jitume program, whose goal is to provide the youth with access to digital services, skills, and opportunities to take advantage of numerous online job opportunities.

In support of the Kenya Kwanza Government’s greening TVET initiative, the KTVC has been active and planted over four thousand trees. We remain committed to reaching ten thousand trees planted and sharing seedlings with the community in the coming years.

Let us journey together as we transform the youth through education, training, and skills. We are dedicated to providing our trainees with a learning environment that nurtures talents, fosters creativity, and cultivates a resolute mindset for future challenges.
